...these are the great animation sequences that were created by year 5 children from Guildford GrovePrimary School. The children were explained about the opportunity for a large-scale artwork to be located at a local playground, and how they could be a part of the creative process...

...the children were invited to develop some 'hinged at the limbs' puppets. These puppets had to designed as if they were seen from the side, or profile...

...monsters and robots and a variety of other creatures were drawn and transformed into the puppets you see here. Then the fun started...the mutant creatures were set in half a dozen or so positions and photographed, (by the kids themselves), in the different positions associated with running...

...these still photographs were then made into a 'loop'. Animation and film techniques were discussed, that employ this simple and wonderfully effective approach...

ok, so we have the loops...we now had to get these excellent pieces of artwork into to a format that could be incorporated into a large scale wall mounted public art work...coloured stills from the animations were printed out and the children set about arranging montages of theirs and others creatures in some kind of narrative or story, or any other random configuration that came to mind...

...cartoon techniques were employed to give these creatures a sense of movement and expression...

so we get to the artworks for the wall...which is to be about 27M long....more information and photos as the panels are made...I've arranged the artworks vertically to suit this blog, however the actual artworks will span the wall horizontally...
